On Tuesday, May 5, 2009, Legal Services of North Florida and the Legal Aid Foundation of the Tallahassee Bar Association in association with The Capital City Bar Presidents Council will celebrate Law Week with a reception and banquet at the University Center Club. The reception, officially hosted by Parks and Crump Attorneys at Law, is being held at the University Center Club 3rd Floor "Futch" ballroom from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. It is an opportunity to recognize all volunteer attorneys and local attorney, Twyla Sketchley, the 2009 recipient of The Florida Bar President's Pro Bono Service Award for the 2nd Judicial Circuit. The recognition program will be addressed by Judge William A. Van Nortwick, Jr. The banquet follows the reception at the University Center Club 3rd Floor "Futch" ballroom at 7:00 p.m., where the ninth Richard W. Ervin Equal Justice Award will be presented to a deserving individual for lifelong dedication to serving Florida's justice system.

One need not attend the banquet to participate in the reception activities. The reception is open to the public with the recognition program beginning at 6:30 p.m. General parking is available. The Capital City Bar Presidents Council will be presenting the ninth Richard W. Ervin Equal Justice Award. Past recipients include: Judge Richard W. Ervin; Attorney General Bob Butterworth; Public Defender Nancy Daniels; Tallahassee Attorney Marc E. Taps; Justice Peggy A. Quince; Assistant Attorney General M. Catherine Lannon; Tallahassee Attorney Tom Powell; and, Judge June C. McKinney. All were recognized for their significant contributions to Florida's justice system.
